A global wave of nonviolent solidarity is rising – for the people of Gaza, for the hostages and prisoners, for a ceasefire, and for Palestinian statehood. This is an urgent update and call to action.
As we write, CfP activists are en route to Paris, France, for a three-day Civil Society Convening led by President Emmanuel Macron, ahead of the international Palestinian Statehood Conference at the United Nations next week. Their goal: to ensure that Palestinian and Israeli civil society voices are centered in the political decisions shaping the future of their land.
Next week in New York City, AFCFP, the Global Mothers’ Alliance for Recognition of the State of Palestine, Friends of Standing Together, and other U.S. partners will demonstrate outside the U.N. during the conference to amplify our collective call for Palestinian self-determination and a just peace for all.
At the same time, international efforts like the recent Freedom Flotilla and the upcoming Global March to Gaza continue to raise pressure to end the Israeli blockade.
Simultaneously, thousands of you have joined the #LettersforGaza campaign, including groups gathering on June 15, to handwrite letters to your representatives and flood them with our unified cry:
- Allow full, unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza
- Deliver life-saving aid
- Secure a ceasefire
- End the blockade
- Free the hostages and prisoners
As we organize in our communities and speak truth to power, what else is needed? To unite: across oceans, peoples, and borders.
To show solidarity with those being starved in Gaza.
To bear witness to their suffering, and their resilience.
On June 16, join a one-day international solidarity fast led by Combatants for Peace and an Israeli-Palestinian coalition in the region, alongside AFCFP and our U.S. partners:
Fast for Freedom: A Joint Day of Fasting for Gaza #EndGazaStarvation
This fast is not directed at political leaders, but to the people – to Gazans and to the hostages. It is a way to say and embody:
“We see you. We will not look away. We unite our thoughts, hearts, bodies, and actions with you. We will not stop until you are safe and free.”
In Gaza, food is under siege, just like life itself. By fasting for Gaza, we embrace nonviolence as a shared language, a sacred offering, a powerful act of co-resistance.
And just as importantly: this is a reminder to the world that the lives of Palestinians and Israelis are intertwined and connected to our global community. Our grief is shared. So is our hope. Our futures are bound together.
How to Join the Fast for Freedom:
🕊️ Pledge your fast: Add your name and location on this live map. You can also upload a photo or video. The map is visible around the world.
📹 Record a video message: Share why you’re fasting and offer words of solidarity, care, and strength to those in Gaza. Upload to the map and/or post on social media with #EndGazaStarvation. Tag @combatantsforpeace_english and @afcfpeace on Instagram. CfP will add subtitles to selected videos and re-share.
If you can’t march to Gaza, let your letter march. #LettersforGaza
If you can’t deliver aid, let hunger be your offering. #EndGazaStarvation
Nonviolence – when embraced across borders, languages, and identities, can shift the course of history. Let us stand together for humanity.
